Dives have been canceled again today because of the rough sea, and apparently it will just get worse until Sunday. Our schedule has been changed quite a bit, and we were given a 3-day weekend. Today will be our Thanksgiving barbecue instead of Friday, which I’m really excited about! I get to help out with the meal since I’m considered American on camp, and I’m pumped to learn to cook a Thanksgiving meal. I guess I need to learn if I want to live in the US! It’s only 800am and I have already been asked to make bread for dinner because I have the “french-touch” with the bread.
Yesterday a group of us hiked to waterfalls next to Port Launay, and we got to jump off rocks and enjoy being in freshwater for a change. The place was really beautiful and we all had an amazing time. It kept us busy most of the afternoon.
Today I will probably stay on base, watch some DVDs and help out with the cooking and the baking of the Thanksgiving meal. I do not have any definite plans for the weekend since I was not expecting to have 3 days off. I really want to go southwest of the island tomorrow with some of the girls and look at some of the beautiful, wild beaches everyone has been talking about, such as Anse Intendance or Anse Takamaka. On Saturday and Sunday I am staying in an apartment with the other guys in Beau Vallon to just relax on the beach, hang out with my friends, go out to Lafaya and simply get out of the base for the weekend. I will keep you updated ;)
Everything looks so beautiful, including yourself! I hope you had a happy thanksgiving with lots of things to be thankful for. I am going to contact the synchro coach at my highschool to see if she needs me to help out this season. I may ask you for some of your favorite, simple routines from around the world so I can show the girls what they could be capable of. I miss you, come back to the U.S.!
